Battle of the wedding themed chick flicks of 2011

I`m not sure if it`s the heat, or all the jumping around that Aiden has been doing, but yesterday and today he took midday naps that lasted almost an hour and a half each!!

Instead of being productive, I watched 2 (wedding themed) chick flicks...

The first was Something Borrowed, starring Kate Hudson, John Krasinski and Ginnifer Goodwin. It was very average. The movie rating site Rotten Tomatoes only gave it 3.9/10 because of a lack of story and a rather boring performance by Kate Hudson who tries her best to be funny (and fails).

I found it to be really slow, which is strange for me, because I do like to watch a rom-com on the weekend! Perhaps the movie relied too heavily on the bigger name actors like Kate and John, who turned out to be less than impressive. Favorite moment? nothing really...

The second is called Bridesmaids and stars Kirsten Wiig, Maya Rudolph, and a cast of hilarious female supporting actresses. In contrast, this movie was given 7.6/10 by Rotten Tomatoes due mostly to the story being both very funny and very real.

I also liked this one much better, as the story was fast paced and interesting, and even a few laugh-out-loud moments which is rare for me. Favorite moment(s)? The dance to `Hold On` (which may have just revived sales of Wilson Philips hit song), the soundtrack in general actually (which features Blondie, Violent Femmes, Hole...); and the hilarious drive-by (trying to get cop`s attention) scene.

So I would recommend Bridesmaids for sure. I watched it online actually, which saved me a couple of thousand yen at the movie theatre (hehe, naughty me I know).
